What I do on my Thursday afternoons.

To wrap up 2014, I wanted to share a collage of what I do on Thursday afternoons. A group of talented artist friends meet at Dan Becks' studio and paint/draw a live model. We've been meeting since August and have a lot to show from these Thursday meet ups. The collage of my figures show quite a progression from the time we started. Dan has done a great job hiring interesting models and providing us with a place to explore this subject matter. He provides great music to paint by too! Like some of the others, I started out thinking I couldn't paint faces and unsure of my ability to paint figures. Each week shared with these talented folks brought about a new challenge, a new discovery and a new confidence. I can paint figures. I can paint faces and I love the challenge. There are great dynamics within this group. We share a lot of life moments on these Thursday afternoons. To each of you, I say thanks for sharing this time together. Thank you Dan for your support and providing these special moments and I look forward to Thursday afternoons in the new year! By the way, we have a show at Café Luna on Castle Street until February. Stop by if you get a chance.

Out with the Old and In with the New!

It's that time of the year...time to wrap things up; out with the old, in with the new; start fresh and all things associated with the year end. First, I wish all my friends, family and collectors a very Merry Christmas.

2014 has been a year of discovery. January found me painting 30 paintings in 30 days and once I got into the groove, I loved every minute of it! I participated in many pleinair events in Southport, downtown Wilmington, Easton, Maryland and Wrightsville Beach. Again, a lot of fun. I love what I get to do. On Thursdays, I was again challenged to try something I never thought I could do...paint faces. I am honored to be part of the Castle Street painters who meet at Dan Beck's studio and paint from a live model. This is something I do just for myself. Indulgent? Yes...but I deserve/need this to feed my creative soul. See some of our work at Luna Café on Castle Street, Wilmington, through February. I've been fortunate to have quite a few sales this year thanks to Spectrum Art and Jewelry, Wade Designs Jewelry, All About Art, Bald Head Island, South of France, Cary, at local pleinair events and though my website. Thanks to all who want to live with my art and enjoy it in their homes. I truly do appreciate each and every one of you!

As I look forward to 2015, I'd better clean my studio of old work and be ready to hit the ground running. I have signed up for Leslie Saeta's 30 paintings in 30 days challenge again this year so January will be focusing on painting from all those photographs I've accumulated this year and have always wanted to paint. I hope you'll all follow my blog posts as you did last year. Your comments and support kept me going.

A special thank you to my artists friends. I'm so lucky I get to travel, paint, share ideas, share a few laughs and lunches and thoroughly enjoy your company. You all truly enrich my life! <3
