New Year, New Work
Happy 2012! The new year in Wilmington has brought unseasonably mild weather...just right for getting out and painting en pleinair. Wrightsville Beach is glorious this time of the year. Gone are the crowds, heat and parking meters. The winter light is brilliant and the shadows are strong earlier in the day. The marsh grasses are golden in the warm light. We did have a few chilly (okay, downright cold) days and that kept me in the studio. This resulted in 2 cool paintings in acrylic. I really enjoy painting with my old, familiar acrylics but resort to oils en pleinair. Tomorrow, I'll join my artist friends for just another day at the beach! P.S. Yes, I know how lucky I am to live here!
