Counting My Blessings
This past weekend, Hurricane Florence made landfall at my beautiful hometown, Wilmington, NC and stalled dumping historic amounts of rain. Over 100 mph winds lashed our pretty coastal town. It left behind an incredible path of destruction and the flooding that is still going on is just awful. Although I was out of harms way (on a scheduled visit to Buffalo), I left behind my husband and daughters and their husbands. I spent those days glued to news following the destruction of this powerful, relentless hurricane and praying for my family and friends.
I have so much to be grateful for...my family is safe. My friends are safe. Trees fell but not on our houses. We had water in my studio but nothing major. Neighbors with generators kept cell phones charged so we could communicate. My home now has power as well as one daughter. Lauren will not have power for many days but a coworker delivered his generator to them once he got power. A stranger gave my husband ice. A family member was injured in a fall but will be okay. My daughter's dog got to a vet in SC and is improving. My close friend's grandson is safe after being in a dangerous situation. Another friend was able to make it to her daughter's wedding this weekend. My artwork is safe after a tree came through the roof of the gallery. I've been able to spend time with a friend who is battling cancer. I got to celebrate my mom's 92nd birthday with her and my 92 year old dad.
These are just a few of my many blessing and I thank God for all of them.
As my area recovers from Hurricane Florence, I ask you to pray for those suffering and who are struggling.
Our beaches are beautiful and they wash up treasures from the ocean like this twisted shell. I look forward to seeing them again soon. Until then, I am Grateful and Counting My Blessings.
